Kimberly Springer has been a percussionist for 16
years. She was a member of the front ensemble of the Santa Clara
Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps from Santa Clara, California (1996,
2000-2001) as well as the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps of
Rockford, Illinois (1998-1999). She was the 1999 Drum Corps
International Individual and Ensemble Keyboard Champion and recipient of
the Avant Garde Scholarship for the highest overall individual
percussion score.
While attending the University of Notre Dame,
Kimberly was the principal percussionist for the Notre Dame Symphony
Orchestra and was the front ensemble instructor for the Notre Dame
Winter Drumline. She has also performed with the University of Texas
Percussion Studio. Kimberly taught the front ensembles at Westlake High
School in Austin, Texas and Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville,
Texas.
Through her university and drum corps experience,
Kimberly has been fortunate to study with renowned performers and
educators, including Jim Casella, Jim Ancona,
Ralph Hardimon, Glen Crosby, David Sankus, Brian Mason, Lonny
Benoit, and Dr. Thomas Burritt.
Kimberly earned her B.A. from the University of
Notre Dame and Master of Public Affairs from the University of Texas at
Austin. She currently resides in Austin, Texas where she works for the
City of Austin.
